Ed~y. retired Illinois National Guard officer, died at his home, 543 Oakdale avenue, Glencoe, }4onday, AJlril 9. - General Eddy was born in Warren, R. I. He was 70 years old an4 ha~ been ill for sever~! months. He had had a long and honorable military career. He enlist.ed in the- old First Illinois Infantry December 13, 1879, and, passing through the intervening grades, was a Major in command of the first battalion duriug the Spanish war a~d saw service at Santiago de Cuba. - He was ~ieutenant Colonel of the 131st infantry in the World war and fought at Chipitly Ridg~ and in the MeuseArgonne battle. Funeral services were held Thursday at Graceland cemetery, with military ~Qnors by his old regiment. General Eddy is survived by his widow and two children, ]arne$ M.
