The play has many thrills and shows the life of a little girl of the south who lives ;lmong the negroes. Later she comes north to attend fine schools and in the end she returns to the south, where she is welcomed with southern songs. Sanitary District Promises HeltJ in Battle on Mosquito Announcement was made this week · by President T. }. Crowe of the Sanitary district that the board of trustees have approved a program for intensive mosquito control work throughout the district this season. The work, which will be begun at once, will be carried out in full co-o.peration with officials of the Cook County Forest Preserves, the Gorgas Memorial Institute, and the two newly organized Des Plaines Valley and North Shore Mosquito Abatement districts, it is stated. . President Crowe, in comment on this announcement said : "For several years the· mosquito nuisance in this r e g i o n bas been . in~reasin~ at an ~ppalling rate, and 1t IS obv1ous. that something must he done to get r1d .:>f this pest. "The Sanitary District trustees, after receiving reports from its investigators that the mosquito situation is closely .allied with sanitation and drainage problems of the district, and constitutes a health hazard, as well as an extreme public nuisance, are unanimous in their desire to serve the people in eliminating the~e pests. "We know full well that it is a big job hut if it is to be done at a11, it mu~t be done well, and we have laid out plan$ accordingly. We shall cooperate fully with all public and private agencies interested in the mosquito problem." President Anthony J. Cermak of the Cook County board, who has been an advocate of mosquito abatement work in this region for several years, had promised the active co-operation of the county in eliminating breeding places in the forest preserves and along county highway rights-of-way. .· For the purpose of meeting the requireMents of Daylight Saving Time a new time table goes into effect on the North Shore Line next Sunday, April 29.
