CtiLDREN-& SHOE SPECIAUSTS 16u8 Cbica1o Awaae £Yanatoo Fresh from their brilliant victories at the Kansas Relays last Saturday Northwestern's track athletes, ten strong, will journey to Des Moines, Ia., this week-end to participate in the Drake Relay games. Coach Hill plans to enter teams in three relay events as well as a number of field events. The crack half and mile relay teams which carried oft first places at Kansas will again perform in the Drake games. A quarter mile team will also compete. The same runners who raced to victory at Lawrence will compose the teams in the forthcoming competition. The mile team will consist of Wilkins, Bloomberg, Gorby and Walter. Hermansen · will replace Bloomberg for the half mile quartet while the other runners will be the same as in the mile. The quarter mile team wilt be composed of Wilkins, Hermansen, Walter and Newsome or Ware. These three teams are aU expected to be in the running for first honor:i although they will encounter keen competition from a number of teams which have performed equally as welt in recent meets. Other teams expected to battle the Purple on even terms are Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, Texas A. & M. and Ohio. These six teams will meet in the mile relay which should make this event one of the feature races of the meet. Capt. Bill Droegemueller, pole vaulter, will head the field event contingent. He holds the Western Conference indoor record and is conceded a good chance of winning first honors ·· at Drake. Jus tin Dart, Big Ten hammer throw champion, will toss the 16 po·nut weight. Rettig in the high jump and Bagge in the javelin complete the Purple entry for the Drake games. .. !
