Dennis of Evanston is president, held its annual spring luncheon Saturday afternoon in the north ballroom of the Stevens hotel. In Mrs. Dennis' absence, due to a visit to Annapolis and Old Point Comfort. the vice president, Mrs. Charles H. Bent of \Vinnetka, presided. Mrs. Harold L . Ickes of Hubbard Woods, a member of the board of trustees. and ~fiss Maria Leonard, dean of women at the University of Illinois, were guests of honor at the luncheon. One of the prettiest weddings ever solemnized in St. Joseph's church took place Saturday, April 28, when Miss Margaret Hoffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Hoffman of Ridge avenue, became the bride of Howard Higgins, son of Mrs. Emma · Higgins of Northfield. Following the ceremony at 10 :30 o'clock, a reception was held at the Hoffman home. The church was beautifutlv decorated with spring flowers. The bride ·wore a gown of white lace over satin and carried white sweet eas, orchids, and lilies of the Yalley. Her bridesmaids, Miss Rosanna Hoffman and 1\1 iss Vivien Higgins. wore frocks of peach color taffeta and carried larkspur and yellow roses. The bride and groom have returned fr om their wedding trip and no"· are residing m Q~~ Mary Esther Winslow, pianist, was heard in a program at the Roycemore school in Evanston last Friday evening. Miss Winslow played the following numbers: Tambourin, RameauGodowsky; Cradle Song, Brahms; Die Fledermaus, Strauss; Night Winds, Griffes; Clair de Lune, Debussy; Spanish Dance, De Fatla. Miss Winslow has just finished a busy season of professional engagements and ·is preparing a heavy program for next year.
