WILMETTE LIFE May 18, 1928 News of Interest to the Church-Goers of Our Village Congregational Church This is one ·Of the fine churches in Wilmette. It intends primarily to provide a place of worship and of service for the residents of Wilmette who have an interest in humanity, a desire for happiness, and who wish an opportunity for the expression of their religious faith. Already more than twenty-one denominations are represented In its membership which attests lts liberal s pirit and its warm friendlin ess. New residents in Wilmette are invited heartily to make this their Church Home. On Priday morning at 10 o'clock the speaker at the Congregational Woman's Missionary society, meeting at 19 South La Salle street, Chicago, will be Merlin P. Ennis of Sachikela, West Africa. Me mbers of the Woman's Guild will attend this meeting and there wlll be an International Affairs Round Table discussion at 11 o'clock. At 7:15 Friday evening Troop No. 1 of the Girl Scouts will meet at the church under the leadership of Miss Elizabeth N. Brown. At 8 o'clock the East End Circle will present two Q.ne-act comt.:!dies in Pilgrim hall. The plays are "The . Rummage Sale," and "Wanted: A Cook." Mrs. Sumner Mason Is chairman of the Circle. This is a very wonderful and timely book by Prof. William Adams Brown, D. D., the author of a book we recently reviewed, entitled, "Th~ Life of Prayer in a World of Science.·' The fottowing announcement preceeds the table of contents: "A statement as plain as the author can make It of what he believes may be a practicable faith for the men and women of today." This book discusses, among many important things, these outstanding questions: "Why Religion Can Not Dispense With Bettef"; "What to Believe about One's Self"; "The World We I...ive in"; and "About .Jesus."
