Plans for next year's Scouting program · were discussed. This is the largest gathering of Wilmette committeemen ever held. The enthmiasm shown promises an even greater advance during Scouting next year·, it is said. Those present were: Troop I-Lea J. O~r, David C. Leach-American Legion Post. Troop 2-Frank A. Monday, June .l8 Wiliuette's third annual summer playground season will open Monday, June 18, at the Village Green, \Vil mette beach, Vattman park, and th e Laurel school grounds. Announcement of the staff of ,directors for eaclt oi the four playgrounds has been made. The directors are: Mrs. Gertrude Fanckboner an < ' Glen W. Gathercoal, Village Green ; Mrs. Alta B. Caldwell and Dudley C. Stone, Wilmette beach; Miss 11 ae Witcher, Vattman Park and Mi :--:-. Dorothea Mulholland, Laurel' school. .; A varied program of recreation ha. been arranged for the nine week s dur ing which the playgrounds v·ill h ~ open, including the usual playgrou nd and city-wide athletic contests and handicraft work such as sand and eta ,· modeling, soap carving, poster wor k. and the making of dolls . and flov.-er desrgns. Hold Many Contests Each piC;lyground will hold conte st. in roller skating, hop scotch, O'Leary, racing, playground ball and othe r sports the first week to choose who will compete in the city-wide athletr c events the following week. This alternating p·rogram will ~be followed for the entire nine weeks. Free instruction in swimming ,\'ill he one of the features of this sum mer's program. Mrs. Alta B. Cald well will be in charge of the girt ~ · swimming classes at the \Vilm ett e beach and Dudlev C. Stone will haY e charge of the boys' clas~es. The four playgrounds \\'ill be open from 9 o'clock until 12 noon and fron I to 5 o'clock. The recreation and playground facilities are free to atl Wilmette children. Each playground instructor \\'ill make out his own program, subject to the approval of Daniel M. Davi s, di rector of recreation, who has general charge of the summer playground work. A meeting of all of the playground supervisors will be held next Thursday, June 14, at 3 o'clock in Mr. Davis' office. . Our entire stock of this type of shoe will .be offered at a reduction. of Bride-Elect Is Guest of Honor at Several Affairs Raymond Barrett of Chicago entertained at a dinner and theater party Tuesday evening of last week for Miss Jane Ram3ey of the Linden Crest, and Phillip H. Kemper of Chicago, whose wedding will be an event of June 16. Satur..day, June 2, Miss Virginia Roach of Rogers Park gave a luncheon and hosiery shower at the Edgewater Beach hotel and during the week-end of June 2 and 3, Miss Ramsey and Mr. Kemper were guests of honor at a house party given by Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Healy of Chicago in their new summer home at Crystal Lake. Miss Laurette Healy will be hostess at a luncheon and shower at the Belmont hotel Wednesday, June 6. PLAY FOR DIRECTORS' CUP The first round of the Directors' trophy will comprise the program of play at the North Shore Golf club Saturday, June 9.
