Out of a total of thirty-six suburbs 1naking comparative reports, the figures of S. W. Straus and company show that twenty-three of the suburbs made gains as against the same period last year. For the towns reporting, the comparative total volume of building for May, 1928, was $12,082,504 as against $10,360,734. Kenilworth,· with a monthly gain of 587 percent, eclipsed all other suburbs whether south, west or north, although the Kenilworth total for the month was only $250,775, a figure con siderably under that of some of its larger neigh bars. · Other suburbs making significant gains were: Wilmette 57 percent, Winnetka 42 percent. Aurora 146 percent, Chicago Heights 147 percent. Elgin 239 percent, Elmwood Park 323 · percent, Glen Ellyn 261 percent, Highland Park 23 percent, Joliet 76 percent. La Grange 44 percent, Lake Forest 23 percent, Maywood 88 percent, · Maunt Prospect 67 percent, Niles Center 7R percent, North Chicago 41 per cent, and \Vheaton 52 percent.
