July t/, 1928 WILMETTE LIFE ··---·~ ... ,. ..,. .... ..,. tS Boy ScotJ,ts lft· v ile · · Friends to Attend Woods Camp Fire All Scout leaders, Scouts, parents, and friends have been invited by the north shore area of Boy Scouts to a big camp fire at 7:30 o'clock tonight at the cabin in the woods. The Scouts will start the program with the camp fire lighting ceremony, and will 'follow it with community singing, yells, stunts, a cracker eating contest, songs by the Scouts, and end with a story by Mr. Kreusch, scoutmaster of Troop 9, Wilmette. At 2 o'clock next Monday afternoort an area wide field meet, open to all the Scouts in the North Shore Area council, will be held at the cabin in the woods. To enter any of the contests, the Scout must be registered at Scout headquarters, be in good standing, and must enter himself in the event at the headquarters, 360 Central avenue, before July 27. A big fun rally will be held at 2 :30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, August 1, at the cabin in the woods. One of 't he outstanding events of the rally will be the wool-hunt. In the foolishness parade .by the troops, each troop wilt dress as clowns in pajamas or any assortment of clothing. In the shoe scramble, two Scouts from each troop will put their shoes in piles. On the word to g-o, the runners will race to the pile, find their own shoe5, put them . on, lace them up, and return to the starting l~ne. These events will be under the. direction of the North Shore ·Activities director, W. Ted Grant~ who will be assisted by the ·· troop leaders. . .. . ·------------. ' .. .., ... Mrs. Almeta D..Oettinger Dies Monday at Her Home Mrs. Almeta Dearborn Oettinger, of 1442 Lake avenue, Wilmette, died last Monday, July 23, at the age of 42 years. She had been a resident of the north shore for four years. . Surviving h~r are her husband, Edwin S. Oettinger, two sons, Robert and Edwin, Jr., one sister, Mrs. Etta Taylor, of Riverside, and two brothers, Bern Dearborn, of Maywood and Ace Taylor, of Riverside. In addition to the immediate family the out-of-town relatives were in attendance at the funeral. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Scott's funeral home, 1.109 Central avenue, \Vilmette. Internnent was made at Memorial Park cemetery. GUESTS OF ACADEMY George Bersch, of Wilmette, Paul Gilbert, of Kenilworth, and Ernest West, of Highland Park, left W ednesday for Culver, Ind., where they will be guests for a week at the Culver Military academy. 1vfrs. P. Schaefer will join them for a short vacation before they return home. -o-Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Mulford and their daughter, Betty, returned Tuesday night to their home at 835 Elmwood avenue, from a vacation spent in Glacier Park. Miss Betty and Mr. Mulford spent part of the time on horseback trips. -o1-Ir. and Mrs. Frank C. Riggs of Portland, Ore., have stopped here from an eight months' trip abroad to visit Mrs. Kerry C.
