August Jl, 1928. WILMETTE Mr. and' Mrs. Ha~es McKinney returned to their home at 1035 Chestnut avenue yesterday after a delightful outing in the west. They have been stopping at the Horseshoe , Inn, Estes Park, Colo. for the past month. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph F. Potter and their three children, of 925 Chestnut avenue, have been with them, and ·together, they all have been riding the mountain trails. The McKinneys also have spent some of their time with Mrs. I. K. Stover. and her son and daughter, who have been at Elkhorn Lodge, Estes Park. Mrs. G. A. Beem and her daughter, Mrs. Maynard Cleven of 707 Linden avenue, have returned home after spending the summer m Hesperia Mich. ' LIFE R. H. Simonds Wins North·ShQre Title· in Horseshoe Tilts R. H. Simonds and E. C. Salzman, of Wilmette, were defeated by Windelborn and Lindberg, of Evanston, in the finals of the doubles competition at the· annual north shore horseshoe pitching tournament sponsored by the Evanston Recreation board. The scores were 21 to 13 and 21 to 17. Games . were played at Lake Shore park, Evanston, Monday night. The singles championship was won by R. H. Simonds Tuesday night when he defeated E. C. Salzman, his doubles partner of the night before, in an up. hill battle 3-21, 21-4, and 21-9. Salzman was the winner of the north shore singles championship last year. In playing for the singles title Simonds and Salzman each put out a member of the doubles team which had defeated them Monday night. Winners of both the singles and doubles horseshoe pitching honors will be rewarded with silver loving cups. An interesting match is expected next week when Simonds anrl Salzman will meet again to decide the horseshoe pitching championship of \Vilmette. WIN IN TRIBUNE CONTEST Two Winnetka women who received prizes in the Tribune Garden contest this year were Mrs. William Crilly of 606 Provident avenue and Mrs. E. H. Johnson of 127 Church road.
