September 14, 1928 W_ l ~.M e ·y T E L.I.F.E ( ,Wilmette Legion Next meeting of Wilmette Post No. 46 is Tuesday, September IS, at 8:30 sharp at St. Augustine's club house. This will be the first fall meeting and there will be several important matters to come to the attention of the members. Corps Wins Prize Wilmette Post Drum and Bugle Corps won third prize in the class B division in the parade at the state convention of the American Legion at W~ukegan <?n Monday, September 10. Thtrty-two members turned out in our resplendent new uniforms, and as Wiln;~tte ha~ entered the class B compe~ttiOn, whtch consists of corps of thirty men or less, comrades Carter and Van Inwagen volunteered to drop out of the parade in or~er to bring the corps down to the maxtmum strength. Under the leadership of Drum Major Klebba the corps_ hit exactly the required 128 beats per minute past the judges' stand. Evanston corps won fourth prize in class f\, which consists of corps of ove_r thtrt! men. Their nifty blue and whtte umforms received much comment . . __ A dainty buffet lunch was served the Wilmette and Evanston corps later. D. C. Leach carried our colors in the parade. Ten of these statutes are being e~ected by the North Shore line, and etght are already completed. These are located at Dempster street and Briergate stations on the Skokie Valley · route, Milwaukee avenue north of River road, Milwaukee avenue at Half Day road, Waukegan road at Everett, Sheridan road north of Waukegan nd Sheridan road north of Kenosha.
