She is Mrs. · Fannie Applewhite of San Antonio who as chairman of tlie courtesy committee of the American Legion Auxiliary is planning a d4:1y nursery for the use of parents who bring small children to the joint conventions of Legion and Auxiliary, to be held in that city October 8 to 12. · Trained nurses and kindergarten workers; assisted by the courtesy com.mittee, will give expert care to the little folks so that parents may be free to enY:>y the varied convention entertainments. The auxiliary alone has a full program beginning October 5, with the arrival in San Antonio of Mrs. Irene Mcintyre Walbridge, national president, and t-xtending through the entire convention period, October 8 to 12. In advance of the convention, entertainments wilt be given by the Federal clubs and the patriotic · organizations of San Antonio. In addition to committee meetings, the Aloha breakfast, the past presidents' parley luncheon. and a ~ea and reception planned by San Antonio women at the Country club will fill Sunday, October 7. With the opening of the Auxiliary convention Monday, October 8, will come entertainments, chief among them, a "garden tea" in the courtyard of the Alamo. given by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. The hostesses wilt be Mrs. ·Clara Driscoll Sevier, of Austin, whose timely purchase of the Alamo property for the Daughters of the Republic of Texas saved the historic building from destruction, and Mrs. 0. M. Farnsworth, president of the Daughters. Meanwhile the Auxiliary offers Fidac, 8 and 40 entertainments, a States' dinner at the Gunter hotel and an ~bsorbing convention program, while the Legion entertainment fills day and night. There will be a rodeo, a decision prize fight. battle exercises by the Old Second Division, two of the ~reatest air circuses ever staged, a Folies Bergeres show, parades and frolics of winning drum corps, bands, and drill teams, with trips to the border and old Mexico, bull fights and Spanish fiestas, and at the close of the convention, the commander's tour to Mexico City. He has decided to take a few additional pupils of the violin as he is resuming his regular teaching schedule this week. Mr. Lusk gave a recital last month in Pisek, Bohemia, the home town of the great violin pedagogue, Professor Sevcik, who wrote to friends after Lusk's concert: "He played magnificently. It was indeed a great treat that he furnished us with his most beautiful playing." Professor Gregor writing in the Pisek Listy said: "We have had occasion to hear' this outstanding violinist several 'times and admire the depth a!ld interpretation of many a violin composition. Last Saturday night he played the d'Ambrosio concerto and shorter pieces including his own successful composition "Romance" in which he proved himself a talented composer.
