The plan to hold the Opportunity Days on the Friday and Saturdav following the fifteenth of each month was submitted to the Chamber of Com merce by the retail committee of that body some time ago. It was received favorably by the members of the Chamber, and immediate plan s were launched to start the Opportunity Days this month. Any merchant in Wilmette is eligi ble to participate in these special bar gain days. The WILM£Ttt Lrt£ will run a section of cooperative advertising each month on Opportuni·t y Days. All merchants advertising in this section will be 2llotted an equal amount of space and be allowed to feature no more than . two items specially priced for the occasion, according to the Chamber of Commerce announcement. The fact that an advertiser's name appears on the community page does not preclude individual advertising, however. The Chamber of Commerce is urg:ing the cooperation of all merchants of the village in the Opportunity Days sale, and it is promising the buyers two red-letter bargain days. Bickham, 428 Ninth street, who is director of research for the committee on Social Analysis of College Communities, left October 7 for the south to pursue his research work in southern schools. His itinerary includes the University of Chattanooga, Vanderbilt university and other leading colleges of the south. From there he \\·ill travel to the west coast. He is making a social survey of the student bodies in the~e colleges, noting the strength and weakness of the envir01\ment in connection with the student personality and advising with · the administrations on it. The car turned over and Dan Broderick, also of Downers Grove, riding with Blanchfield, was thrown through the top. His shoulder was severely injured, and Blanchfield's shoulder also was hurt.
