The team then played a prl\ctlce game with SA Stolp and won by a ~ore of 1-0.-Fred Aschbacher, 7B Howard JUNIOR LIFE (Continued from Page 58) Howard Pupils Complete First Social Science Test Tne eighth grades of Howard school completed their first Social Science tests, Thursday, November 9. This test was about the first of four Social Science books called "Explorers and Settlers Westward Bound" and consisted of 145 questions. These tests are sent four times a year from Dr. Harold Rugg of the Columbus university. We have now started our second book which Mrs. Groves our Social Science teacher promises will · be the most interesting of the four books. This book tells of the Mechanical Conquest of America.-Virginia McConnell, Howard 8A · ' Howard Enjoys Interesting Motor Journey Through East Mother, Dad and I took a trip east this fall. We left here Saturday, October 6, at 5:30 o'clock in the morning. We drove to Detroit. We then took a ·· boat to Buffalo. From there we went to Binghampton, N. Y., and then took the Lackawanna . trail to Scranton, Pennsylvania. We then went to Mount Lakes, N. J., where one of my aunts lives. We stayed about a week and then went to Mamaroneck, N. Y., where my other aunt lives. From there we went my grandmother lives. to Boston where We then went through the White Mountains of New Hampshire and then back to Boston. From Boston we went to Fall River, Mass., and took the boat back up through New York state to Buffalo and then to Detroit by boat again. From there we came home. We had them in the morning but did not finish. The remaining ones we told Thursday morning. Diagrams and Recipes 7-A Howard Comes From Behind to Trim 7-B's Thursday, November 15, a game .of kickball '"·as played between Howard 7A and Howard 7B. The 7B. won in the first half with a score of 13 to 11. But it seemed to be our unlucky number for we only made one more run. We are now organizing a volley ball team. We are going to keep our kickball captain, Lois Sandberg, for she proved to be a good one.-Helen Perry, Howard 7B Thursday, November 15, diagrams and recipe books made by the eighth grades of Stolp were to be handed in to Miss Perring's Stolp composition teacher. The boys made diagrams and wrote explanations for them. The girls wrote recipes. Both had to be made into an original booklet with a design and handed in to Miss Perring. There were some very interesting recipes and diagrams. The notebooks will be graded on neatness and originality.Chester Hanson, 8A Stolp A TRUE SCOTCH~IAN 8B Howard's Scotch treasurer is surely on the job. During remedial period he went around and reminded the people holding on to their dues to pay up. There is also a sign on the board to the same effect. Mrs. Groves, the Social Scienc.e teacher, was not satisfied but said it was good for the first tests.
