A great program has been planned and will start with a week-end convention for Girl Scouts, their leaders, council members, and friends of Girl Scouting. The convention will be held at the Drake hotel, Walton Place entrance to he used. The Wilmette Girl Scouts also will meet at their headquarters here, the \Vilmette Methodist church. The program at the Drake ts as follows: Saturday, December 1 9 :30 a. m.-Registration desk opens. 10 a. m.-Annual m eeting. 10: 30 a. m.-{jolor ceremony, Miss l'!::lizabeth Baker, Commissioner, presiding. Scouts' Own is a gathering for every Girl Scout, no matter to what creed, sect or denomination she may belong. It is a sil11J>le and dignified expression of our loyalty to God, and of our desire for better understanding of the Girl Scout Law. Mrs. Juliette Low, an American visitor in En~land, and .a.personal friend of the Father of Scouting, realized the tremendous future of the movement for her own country, and with the active and friendly co-operation of the Baden-Powells, she founded the Girl Guides in America, enrolling the first patrols in Savannah_, Georgia. in March 1912. They were re-christel]_e_ d the Girl Scouts..in a very few months, however, as that name was more appro:vriate in America. In 1915, National He:;tdquarters were established in Washington, D. C., but the following year they were moved to New York and the methods and standards of what was to be a -nation-wide organization became established on a broad, practical basis.
