Barrett of 623 Abbottsford road, Kenilworth, was made the youngest Eagle Scout of the North Shore Area Boy Scout council on November 23. He is a member of Kenilworth Troop 13, under the leadership of Robert Townley, Scoutmaster. Roger passed his tenderfoot examination in September of 1927, t cok the second class. scout examination in October and was made a first class Scout in November of that year. He was made a Star Scout in May of this year and a Life Scout in June. Then he had to wait until November 23 to be made an Eagle scout, one year after he had been made a first class scout. He now has twenty-six merit badges, twenty-one being the number required to make him an Eagle Scout. · This will make him eligible to an Eagle Palm when six months have passed, as he has the additional five merits required for the honor. Roger passed his thirteenth birthday last June and nearly gained his honors in the minimt:m of time. Thirteen months after his twelfth birthday, the age at which boys are taken into the Scout troop, is the shortest time in which a boy can gain the honor of Eagle Scout. Boys of the school participating in the meet were divid.ed into four classes-midgets, under 75 JI>Unds; lightweights, under 85 pounds ; middleweights, under 100 pounds; and heavyweights, over 100 pounds. E,ibb.ons will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners in each event, and the high ·p oint winners in each class will receive medals. Tom Hildebrandt was high point man in the' midget class with 13 points, Grant Ehlerich in the lightw~ight class with 13, Stanley Knight in the middleweight class with lS, and Woodrow Wilson in the heavyweight class with 13. Decorate Louis Eckstein Legion of Honor Chevalier Upon Louis Eckstein, president of the Ravinia Opera company, has been bestowed the decoration of chevalier of the Legion of Honor, according to a recent announcement. The honor has been conferred, an official letter of notification from Count de Ferry de Fontnouvelle, consul of France, states, in consideration of Mr. Eckstein's services to music, especially to French music. For years Mr. Eckstein has been identified with Ravinia Park and similar artistic projects.
