November 30, 1928. WILMETTE 1 LIFE . 51 Study Class Approves Lucius W. Wakely Dies Willa Cather's Novels at Pelican Lake, Minn. The Kenilworth Study class met at the home of Mrs. E. D. Snydacker, 1340 Chestnut avenue, Kenilworth, last week Wednesday afternoon with a large attendance considering that many of the members are out of town. Mrs. MacClintock discussed the novels of Willa Cather, dwelling particularly upon "A Lost Lady" and "The Professor's House." She gave an account of Miss Cather's life and her personality, as a prelude to the discussion of her books and told of her early environment. "A Lost Lady" seemed to her a perfeet book, beautifully told, a most exquisite piece of work. ,.The Professor's House," the story of the life in the family of Prof. St. Peter with its varied· characters so well drawn, with perhaps the only flaw in the characterization of the two sisters. Mrs. MacClintock read several chapters from each of the two books, bits which were especially beautiful. The next meeting will be on Wednesday afternoon, December 5, at Mrs. Sidney Ball's home at 936 Hill road, Winnetka. Mrs. MacClintock will discuss the work of Eugene O'Neill esLucius W. Wakely, father of Arthur W. Wakely, 234 Leicester road Kenilworth, died Thursday, Noven{ber 22 at Pelican Lake, Minnesota. Funerai services were held at Whitewater Wisconsin, the old family home. Mr: Wakely was 70 years old and the son of Judge and Mrs. Eleanor Wakely of Omaha. He was a descendant of Lewis Morris, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He attended the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, after which he entered the service of the C. B. & Q. R. R. at Chicago and remained with this road as general passenger agent at Omaha until two years ago. JUNIORS MEET Tuesday, November 27, the Junior Neighbors · held a joint meeting with the senior members at the Kenilworth club. The subject was "Histori~ Spots in Illinois," and was illustrated with a stereopticon. Folk songs were sung. Mrs. Fanny Cope, 535 Warwick road, Kenilworth, gave a luncheon Friday of last week in honor of Mrs. Blackwood of Pasadena, Cal., who is a houseguest of Mrs. Rufus Stolp, '336 Warwick road, KenHworth.
