Illinois U ·.Invites Basketball Players to· ·Washington Game The Washington-Illinois basketball game Monday evening, December :n, in the Illinois gymnasium, is likely to be a popular New Year's diversion for high school basketball players of the s tat e. _ F Q r t h e· u n i v e r s i t y i s extending an invitation to the members of the prep cage squads and their coaches to attend this game as guests. Washington, which has defeated Indiana, co-champions of the Big Ten last season and played well against Iowa and Purdue, undoubtedly is strong and will be the most severe test yet' for the Illini cagers. The Illini are able to play host to the prep players for the Washington game because the university will he closed and few students wi]) be here. Therefore, it will be possible to accommodate the young athletes and all other out-of-town fans who desire t0 see a rattling good exhibition. Christian .Science Chterches "Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?" was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, December 23. The Golden Text was "Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands" (Hebrews 1 :10). Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon was the following from the Bible: "Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and. stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard fgr thee" (Jeremiah 32 :17). The lesson-sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "Mind's control over Jhe universe, including man, is no longer an open question, but is demonstrable Science" (p. 171).
