Plate B~ Information for Motor Tourists Condition of roads· in Illinois and nearby states as reported by the Chicago Motor club follows: ILLINOIS Roads in the vicinity of Chicago are all open and while some snow has fallen this has all been cleared away. All roads are very slippery, however, and chains are required for safe driving. No main highways through Illinois were reported impassable at any time during the past week and all are open but slippery. · Chicago to Milwaukee-Open at 9:30 a. m., Jan. 14. Busses running south of Milwaukee. INDIANA Indianapolis-Roads in this vicinity were open through 2 inches of snow over a very icy surface. All roads through northern and central Indiana are covered with ice but are open. US-27-The 3-mile "detour" reported between Decatur and Ft. Wayne is not ~ detour but is an unpaved gap which will be paved next spring. Ind.-44-The new bridge near Connersville is open and the 6-mile detour is removed. WISCONSIN Milwaukee-Snow has seriously affected conditions to the north. Roads sure exerted on each wheel-just another advance in brake service for the benefit of car owners. A careful driver will have his brakes tested at least every 2,000 miles. They may not need adjusting but with accurate knowledge of the condition of his brakes he can intelligently meet traffic as he finds it. Do not neglect your brakes.
