Kilssen is described as a versatile singer, with a wide range ?f voice, and has received very flattenng press comments during the past few years. He has appeared with the :!\ational Opera company at Washingt~:>n, D. C.· where he is a great favonte. Last season he appeared with the CiYic Opera company of Philadelphia, and has been reengaged for this season. He is said to have "a rich bass voice, capable of soaring into higher notes, as well as dropping into full, low tones." Loper, pastor of the First Congregational church, announced this week a special series of services for the Lenten season. These service3 will culminate with the meetings of Holy "~ eek. Copies of a booklet prepared by the Federal Council of Churches called "The Fellowship of Prayer" have been mailed to all the members of the church as has been done bv the other churches of \Vilmette. ·These will be used in the homes in preparation for the ·services to be held at the church. The first series is to be sermons on the g-eneral theme: "The Discovery of God," and will be preached in the wor- · ship service each Sunday morning beginning next Sunday. The attempt will be to show how God is di·.;covered "In X ature," "In Literature," "In History." "In \Vorship," "In Humanity," and "In Christ," ending on Palm Sunday. Simultaneouslv a series will be used on \Vednesday ·evening during ~ent. This series will treat the "Creators of Christian Epochs" and includes the following sub-topics: "Origen-Scholar and Martyr," "Chrys::>stom - Silve;Tongued Orator," "Francis of .A:.;sisiSaint and Mystic." "\Yyclif-Torch of the Reformation," and "SavonarolaSocial Prophet." During Holy \Yeek prayer ·3en·ices are to be held in some of the homes of the parish on Tuesday and \Vednesday evenings. A Candle Light Communion service will be celebrated on Thursday evening. A special service be held on Good Friday evening. A nd ori Easter morning the theme for the sermon 'vill be "The Continuit y of Life."
