Novels of Virginia Woolfe State Champions of Ohio Discussed at Study Class · Meet New Trier Saturday 'fhe Kenilworth Literature class met Wedne'sday of l~st week at the home of Mrs. 9uy Ltttell, Woodstock avenue, ~emlworth. Mrs. Porter Lauder MacChntock, the leader of the. cl~s.s, spoke of the novels of Vtrgtma \Voolfe. Mrs. Woolfe is an English writer whose books are of' rare value. She portrays life through her characters, showing a simultaneity of events in perpendicular rather than in the usual horizontal action. Her books in consequence are most unique and original. Her mother was the daughter of Thackeray. The books discussed were "Mrs. Dalloway," "To the Lighthouse," and "Orlando." Mrs. MacClintock also touched upon Huxley's "Point-Counter-Point," giving a very sane interpretation of this muchtalked-of book. The next meeting of the study group will occur on March 20, and will be the last one for this season. The books to be considered will be a few of . the novels of contemporary · E nglish writers, "The Dancing Floor" by Buchan ; "Lolly Willowes" and "A Mirror for Witches," by Esther Forbes. New Trier High school will play Stivers High school of Dayton, Ohio, basketball champion of Ohio for the last three years, at the Leslie F , Gates gymnasium this Saturday night, February 23. Stivers already has defeated decisively three strong Illinois high school teams-Marshall and Lindblom of Chicago,· and Waukegan. Last year New Trier beat Stivers in a close, hard-fought game, and the Ohio team is out for revenge. The game will start at 8 o'clock. - - - - -- - - - - - - - CARD OF THANKS Through a mis unde rstanding, Mr. and Mrs. .John Swanson a nd family, 637 Linden avenue, Kenilworth, did not learn the names of the fri ends who so kindly sent flowers at the time of their recent ber eavement in the loss of their beloved daughter and sister, Marie.
