Dr. Pratt Desires Display Books of Great Men Born in February to Acquire a Used The Wilmette Public library is · dis. Packard Sport Car playing book:; by and about the folDr. Pratt, of the celebrated radio trio, Drs. Pratt, Sherman, and Rudolph, is, as most people know, a resident of Oak Park, facetiously termed one of Chicago's western suburbs. ' All of which is significant in view of the fact that Dr. Pratt, who cavorts in scintillating fashioi1 over the ether waves emanating f rom Station WMAQ, is out on the open market in quest of a slightly used Sport Tourinb Model Packard car, with kahki top. Realizing that Oak Park folk lack the affluence which should attend ownership of a Packard car, Dr. Pratt turns his attention to the admittedly affluent north shore·, the home domain of his dear associate, Dr. Sherman, "Indian Hill's gift to radio." And it is because of his almost constant as'sociation with Dr. Sherman, that Dr. Pratt has definitely decided to make inquiry elsewhere, preferably among strangers-concerning his decision to adopt the Packard mode. So, if you know of a Packard following above description in which no one on the north shore could pos'3ibly be further intere sted, just phone Dr. Pratt, Dearborn One-One-One-One, and he will be happy to sing a song, or no, as you prefer. Note: Dr. Pratt r ea lly does want a second hand Packard Sport Touring model. Mrs. B. M. Owen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Beem, 707 Linden avenue; who has been in Philadelphia for two months, returned to Wilmette lowing men whose birthdays occur the last week in February. Benedetto Croce, the Italian philosopher and critic, was born on Feb., ruary 25. His ideali~tic philosophy applied to the ethical problems of. life · is expounded in .. Conduct of Life." In addition to this, William Drake has devoted a chapter to him in "Contemporary European Writers." On February 26, Christopher Marlowe and Victor Hugo were born. Of Marlowe's plays, the library has "Doctor Faustus" and "Edward Second." "Les Miserables" and "Notre Dame de Paris" are doubtless the best by Victor Hugo. Many celebrated people were born on February 27, but Longfellow has the greatest place in our lives. Both M ontaigne, the originator of the essay form, and Wilfred T. Grenfell, the missionary doctor in Labrador, were born on February 28. The library has Montaigne's essays, and both stories and autobiography by 'Dr. Grenfell. ············· BRIAR BALL TzA BooM S M ra.
