Business Women's week is a project that has the whole-hearted endorsement of Gove.rnor Louis L. Emmerson of Illinois, a fact made evident through his letter to Mrs. Erma Templeman, president of the state federation, which is quoted herewith : "It is with pleasure that I endorse the observance of National Business Women's week March 10 to 16. Such an observance as is planned by the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's clubs representing more than fifty-two thousand mem· bers, is a fitting memorial to tht! achievements of the pioneer women of business as well as a testimonial of the accomplishments of the business women of today. "Vvomen are not only holding positions in business requiring the highest intelligenc~ and executive ability, but also are filling positions in government · of the greatest tru·s t and responsibility. "More and more their influence is being felt in our national congress and our state legislatures. Some have served their states as governors. Others have been elevated to the highest state judicial positions. In industry; in science, in government, women have achieved signal success and I, therefore, deem it a privilege to lend my endorsement to the observance of National Business Women's week and to wish it the greatest success." Signed, Louis L. Emmerson. Monday evening. ·William Lyon · of Waukegan, who is president of the Inland Bird Banding society, gave one of the most interesting talks illustrated by colored slides the club has had. Mr. .Lyon took the in embers through the diff~rent processes of trapping, later showing how the birds are held in order that the band may be placed without injury to the birds. He told of h(!ving many birds return, by their having been found hundreds of miles away from where they were trapped. The government, he stated, is very desirous of procuring the services of a·s many persons as possible to further the study of birds. If anyone is interested he is asked to communicate with Mr~ Lyon who will gladly give information about the procedure.
