Decker, a teacher in ' the Logan school, passed away at her home in Evanston, Friday night, March 15, after an illness of a week. Miss Decker had been a member of the Wilmette public school teaching staff for twenty years. She began her work in the small frame building that \Yas situated just north of the Logan school building, and was transferred to the present bu~lding on it s erection. During most of this time she taught the second grade and over seven hundred children have passed under her tutelage and owe her a deht of gratitude for excellent in struction in the fundamental subjects. "Too much cannot be said in praise of Miss Decker's work," said J. R. Harper, superintendent of vVihnett_ e Public schools. "Sh e \Ya s conscicntious to a verv high degree and h er one ambition life was t~ see that the particular group · of chtldren entrusted to her care made the proper advancement. While her room was noted for its industry and application to dutv, her keen sympathy and understanding of children made it a pleasant ward was the glow of satisfaction that came to the child over a difficult lesson well learned. Wilmette's new police ambulance was used fbr the first time Thur.sday afternoon March 14 when Ferdi DeGroot 2132 El~lwood a~enue was rushed t~ the Evanston hospit~l following an accident in which the motorcycle on which he was riding crashed into a car driven bv Frank Cutten 1101 Chestnut avenue. · DeGroot suffe,red a broken leg. The accident happened at about 1 o'clock at the intersection of Twelfth street and Lake avenue. DeGroot going north on Twelfth street, failed t~ stop at Lake avenue according to the police report, and ra1~1med Cutten's car which wa·s traveling west on Lake.
