April 5, 1929 WILMET T .E LIFE PLAN GYM EXHIBIT Students Enjoy New Trier Department of Physical Education Invites Villagers to Unique Program April 12 The department of physical education at New Trier High school in cooperation with the New Trier ParentTeacher association, is planning a treat for the parents and friends of the high school in the form of an athletic exhibition, to be held in the new Leslie t Gates gymnasium on Friday, Apnl 12, at 8 o'clock in the evening. This exhibition is to be of a type never before undertaken af Nt::w Trier and promises to provide the guest~ ~ith a most interesting and entertainIng event. Both the boys and girls have been in training for a number of weeks for their special features. The party of one hundred New Trier s~u dents and faculty members returned Friday, March 29, from a week's excursion to places of current and historic interest in Virginia, · Maryland, and other eastern states. The placing of a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington National cemetery was one of the highlights of the trip. The ceremony took place Tuesday morning of last week. Farrington Schaeffer placed the wreath, and was esc;,orted by Isabel Macelister. Maxine Choate, Jean Lindstrom, Margaret Stowell, Mary Karker, John Fetcher, and Charles Robb, who were chosen to represent the various chaperon groups in the party. On Wednesday morning the New Trier party met a similar group from the Evanston High school at the \Vashington monument, where a num- ~ her of the more energetic students, instead· of taking the elevator to the top, raced up the steps to the top of the monument. The .same day the New Trier party was granted .the special privilege of seeing some of the private rooms in the White House. The state legislature of Maryland was in session while the party was in Annapolis on Monday and many qf the students got their first glimpse of actual legislative ·procedure. In the obc;tacle race, the team s will be divided into the "Reds" and "Whites." Mrs. Thomas L. D. Hall, 935 Elmwood avenue, has returned from Pittsburgh after a sojourn of about two weeks. . -oDr. and Mrs. Lester E. Mee, 1227 Chestnut avenue, returned last Friday from French Lick Springs, Ind., where they had been sojourning for a week. Bennett in "Jamegan" Moves to Selwyn Apr. 7 Richard Bennett in "J arnegan," the outstanding dramatic success this season in Chicag-o, moves to the Selwyn theater on Sunday, April 7. This change of theaters has been necessitated by the fact that a contract was previously signed with a picture concern for the exhibition of a movie at the present theater in which Mr. Bennett is playing. The successful engagement of Mr. Bennett's "J arnegan" induced the management to immediatetv nrocure another theater for the continuation of this attraction in ChicaQ'o, hence the removal to the Selwyn theater. 1fr".
