New Trier Debate Squads to Engage Proviso April 19 Debaters of New Trier High school will engage in their first inter-school clashes this month when they meet teams representing Proviso High school in a dual debate Friday, April 19. The subject for debate will be: "Res.olve~; That jury systems should be abohshed· New Trier's teams will be composed of the following: affirmative-Dorland Davis, Lois Goldstein, and John Erickson; negative-Albert Denton, Lowell Comee, and Olin Sethness. Debate Coach Chester F.. Maclean will select the best debaters from the entire New Trier squad for the clash with Cleveland on May 10. This debate is considered the most important of the year for New Trier. Cleveland. champion of Ohio in 1927, was defeated by New Trier in that year, but won the decision over the north shore team last year. The Ohio team will uphold the affirmative of the jury question in the third clash between the two team s next month. A committee composed of Solon Reily, chairman and Betty Buckett has been appointed to arrange for the entertainment of the Cleveland debaters who will arrive on Friday, May 10, and stay for Saturday and Sunday. Roosevelt of Chicago and Kenosha. Wis., are t\Yo other teams which New Trier debaters will meet this spring . Dates for the Kenosha and Roosev elt debat e. have not been set.
