This Boiler Saves 40 Percent on Coal, Experiments Show STATE BANK and TRUST COMPANY OrriaatoD at Davia Enaatoa, llliaoia Manufacturers of a popular heating boiler on the market today have recently conducted some interesting experiments regarding the savings in work and coal as well as the increased heat furnished through its capabl~ working. This particular boiler, as the test s'10wed, "burned coal twice." That is, it not only burned the coal on the grates but also in the combustion space. This is carrying out the idea embodied in a report made by experts in the United States Bureau of Mines. From a series of exhaustive tests they stated that only 50 per cent of the coal could be burned on the grates and that the other 50 per cent of it was wasted unless it was burned in the combustion space. Laboratory tests recently conducted showed a saving of nearly 40 per cent in coal by this boiler; to be exact, 39.6 per cent saving. Before the test, conducted before an impartial jury of experts was held, it had only been claimed that 33 per cent of coal would be saved.
