Dr. William McGovern, who recently becam~ associated with the political science department of Northwestern university, wilt be the speaker at . the Father and Son hanquet to he given hy the Tri-Ship club of New Trier High school Thursday, April 18. Dr. McGovern, who is a widely known author and explorer, will talk on the subject, "To Lhasa in Disguise." In 1922 Dr. McGovern risked hi·3 life in a visit to Lhasa, Tibit. entrance to which is forhidden to all white men. In order to reach Lhasa the noted explorer crossed the high passe3 of the Himalayan mountains in winter, a feat which in itself is considered remarkable. He is said to be the only white man who ever attended the religious ceremonies in the forbidden city. His lecture is heing pre'3ented at New Trier for the first time on the north shore. The father and son toasts will be given by John Hicks, of Kenilworth, and his son, Hunter Hicks, quarterhack on the football team. The program wilt he presented by boys of the school.
