April 26, 1929 WILMETTE LIFE 2S. ..I George Seaberg, Chicago pianist, has won the contest for pianists sponsored by the Society of American Musicians. The finals took place Friday evening, April 19, at Curtiss hall, and two oth~r pianists besides Mr. ~eaberg competed, ,Miss Grace Nelson and Miss Ruth Walker. The judges on Friday we re Rudolph Ganz, Maurice Rosenfeld and Allen Spencer, and the prize was a grand piano given by the Cable company. Mr. Seaberg is well known in th e north shore town s, for he has a large class of pupils here. He has appeared i.n recital at Skoki e s@hoolJ Winnetk~, a11d has t1een enthusiastically praised for hi s poise, his command of technique and his arti stic interpretations. For the · past five years he has been a pupil of Howard \Vell s, who lives in \Vilmette. As the winner in the contest, Mr. Seaberg was presented in recital Tue sday afternoon at the Blackstone hotel hv the Kenwood Music club. He will give a recital within three weeks. which will be sponsored by the Society of American M usidan s. His program last Friday evening consisted of the Prelude from the Second Partita of Bach. the first movement of Sonate Opus 111 of Beethoven, the Chopin F Major Etude and "La Terrasse des Audiences du Clair de Lune," by Dehussv. Miss Pauline Manchester of Glencoe won the contest last year. She is also a pupil of Howard \Vetls. April 25. all northbound North Shore Line trains will stop to receive passengers at the Clark-Lake "L" station in the Chicago Loop, it was announced by John R. Blackhall. general manager. All southbound trains circling the Loop also will stop to discharge pas sengers at this point. "This new North Shore Line station in the · Chicago Loop is only one hlock from the Randolph street Rialto." said Mr. Blackhall. "It has heen established primarily with a Yiew to affording theatregoers from north shore communities greater convenience in 'boarding trains after the show. It also affords the public North Shore Line station facilities on the north side of the Loop for the first time. " Inauguration of this new stop gives the 'Road of Service' four outbound stations in the Chicago Loop. The main 'outbound station is at 223 c . vVabash avenue. Northbound trains also may be boarded at MadisonWabash and Randolph -Wabash stations on the Rapid Transit Lines. Inbound trains stop at all "L" station s on \Veils and Van Buren streets." Mrs. F. L. Dougher, of Evanston, St. is ticket chairman for the George's Aux:liary card ·party to be held at the high school the evening of May 10.
