The meet was held on a soggy track and the rain became so persistent at one point that the high jump had to be held in Oak Park's new field house. This event was won by Carl Hall of New Trier with a jump of 5' feet. 11 inches. The bar, when Halt made -his last jump, was set at 6 feet, 2; since this is the national interscholastic record, the officials thought that they had better measure the height more carefully. It was done with a steel tape and it was found to be but 5 feet 11. New Trier's only other first place was garnered by Guy who won the 220-vard dash by five yards. Guy did not ·have to extend himself in the least to win. Macintosh won a second place .for the Indian Hill lads by getting second in the 50-vard dash. Gibson, a · New Trier senior, leaped 21 f ~o: t t, 6~ inches to take a second in the running hroad jump . . That event was won by Myer ~ of La Grange who jumped 22 feet, 7 inches. This leap is perilously close to the interscholastic record. The north shore hovs won their heat in the relav. but Oak Park was hard pressed to ~vin their heat, so our team lost that event by three-fifths of a second. Other 1\' ew Trier place winners were: Guy, third in the 100-yard dash; Wieland, fifth in the 880-yard run; Halt third in the 120-yard high hurdles; Kingsley, tied for third in the pole vauh. . Since Oak Park won the meet with a total of 52 4/7 points, all members of their team who got any one of the first five places may compete in the state meet at Champaign, this Friday and Saturday. Ail others who got either a first or second place are eligible for this meet. The boys from New Trier whom coach Nay is taking wtth him arc: M aclntosh, Guy, Hall. Gibson and the members of the relay team, Captain Cassell, Roth, Macintosh and Guy. Captain Martin Cassell of the New Trier team has been troubled lately with a bad leg, and consequently did not run his favorite event, the quarter mile . Coach Nav thinks that Mart's leg will he better for the meet at Champaign, and, if this proves true, the bovs ought to put up an even better showing in the relay: Team points: Oak Park N ew Trier La Grange Deerfield Proviso Univ. lligh Maine TW}). 52 4/7 30 l/2 25 24 2/7 18 1/7 16 1/2 . 14 Waukegan l... ibertyville Llbe·al DlaeoUDt on Blllag aad CaD CENTRAL AT MAIN ST., WILMETTE Phone 1800 JUdfl.lf' League Won Lost Giants ...................... 1 0 Cubs . . . . ....... . ......... 1 0 Yankees . . . . . . . . ........ .. . . . 0 1 Cardinals .. . ...... . ........... .. . 0 1 Frigidaire announces Lowered Prices on Frigidaire equipment for stores and restaurants Get the facts at ou.r showroom equipped with F..._.dme. will be more eftldent aa4 will eoet far leM to refripa-. ate thaD with the lae 70UW Your.,....twalk-m...._. ....
