Dornes, 52, formerly manager of Paul Schroeder's real estate office near Wilmette and Greenleaf avenues, Wilmette, and later manager of Mr. Schroeder's north shore office near the Linden avenue elevated station in ' Wilmette, was killed in an automobile accident early Wednesday morning, June 19, near St. Augustine, Fla. Mr. Domes at one time lived at 516 Linden a venue, Wilmette. With Frank ]. Pepper, president of the Miami Real Estat~ board. and Kenneth S. Keyes, also a realtor, Mr. Dornes was on his way to Savannah, Ga., to board a boat for · Boston to attend the annual convention of the National Association of Realty Boards. Keyes' automobile, in which the three men were riding, collided with a truck. Pepper, who was driving the car, also was killed, and Keyes. who was a.;;leep in the back seat at the time or the accident, was taken to the Flagler Memorial . hospital in St. Augustine with five broken ribs. The truck driver also is in the hospital with serious injuries. Mr. Dornes, who had been in the real estate business for thirty years, was a native of Iowa. After about twelve years' residence in Dem er he . moved to Chicago, where he lived several years before moving to Miami in December, 1924. Mr. Domes establi shed the Domes Realty company in Miami. later becoming a partner in the firm of Dornes and Schubert there and a member of the executive com'mittee of the Miami Realty board. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Catherine Dornes. who is vice pre sident of the Dade County (Fla.) Federation of Woman's clubs and president of the All States Card club in Miami: his son and business associate. Cletus ]. Dornes; a brother, Fred Dornes, of Dubuque, Iowa; and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Clemens, · of Dyersville, Iowa, Mrs. ~!illiam Stager, of Dubuque, and 'Mrs. Clara Bailey of Jamestown, N. D. Funeral services for 1vfr. Dornes· were conduc ted Saturday morning, June 22, at 9 :30 o'clock in the Gesu Catholic church, Miami, of which Mr. Dornes was a member. Mrs. Phelps, a resident of Kenilworth for some years, addressed the club on "Birds." This subject was treated in Mrs. Phelps' most able manner and her thorough knowledge of it, and its attendant interests, madt: the talks most instructive and enjoyable to all those present. The next meeting of the club will be held Monday, July 8, at the home of Mrs. F. B. MacKinnon, 321 Leicester road, at which time the program' will be given by its members.
