This raised the total .num~ ber of admissions since the founding of the h osp ital 38 years ago ~o nearly 80.000. A decrease in the average number of days' stay per patient was experienced., the report showing an average of 10, whereas the a vcrage last year was 11 and in 1927 it was 13. The large st da y of the year saw 235 patient s under care which is an alltime record for the 'hos pital. Other interesting facts of Miss McCleery's report are: There were 898 babies born at the hospital during the year, which is just two more than the year before. Of th(' total number of pa.tients-2,519 were full pay ; 3,404 were part pay, and 739 were free patients. ' Operations numbered 3,083.
