Beauty lovers will pass by one of the choice moments in the early programs there if they do not visit and linger over this exhibition. LIFE HOLD ETCHING DISPLAY Czechoslovakian Artista Have Exhibit at Evanston Art Center ' Something delightfully seasonable perm~ates the showing of etchings and block prints which Czechoslovakian artists have created, now on display at the Evanston art center. Numbers of the scenes brought to creation in black and white or in soft and lovely coloring, are, naturally, those of Prague and various cities and their surroundings in the former Aastrian country; and the impressive beauty of winter in and about this part of the world affords delectable material for such art. They are cold countries, and snow plays a large p~rf in this utilization of native material, and the feel of still chill or bluster and the magnificent majesty of piles of buildings, or reaches of land under snow cover, saturates one as he goes from picture to picture, . re-entranced with their delightful charm. Winter is a season which lends itself nicely to the fine, cool tracery of the etcher's tool or to the broader stroke of the woodcutting instrument, and there is delicacy and great loveliness in those cleancut, clear creations wherein it enters. Winter at home is there, too, and autumn and the other season, for cities of the ' east have stunning picturing here and there in the display, and one of the arresting showings is the Boston Fenway under snow, magically and mystically melting through the tracery of black boughs snow laden. There are other Boston scenes and a few J apanese and New Mexican, scenes in the Virgin Islands and the Apostle Islands, in Wisconsin, and one of the south branch of the Chicago river. Business Women Meet . on Monday, December 9 · The regular December meeting of the Business and Professional Woman's club will be held on Monday evening, December 9, in the dining room of the Congregational church. Miss Maybelle P<tyton, assistant dean of girls and instructor in public speaking at New Trier High school, will be the spe aker of the evening. Plans for Christmas activities will be completed at this meeting. Sevent~en representatives of the Wilmette club visited th~ Evanston B. and P. W. club on Monday evening, December 2, when Mrs. Ora H. Snyder, a leading candy manufacturer and retailer, was the guest and speaker. Mrs. Synder is a state officer in the Business Woman's federation. The Wilmette .group enlivened the meeting by singing federation songs. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wheelock, 132 Oxford road, Kenilworth, have gone to Clew]and to visit their sqn-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Buell. They will he gone for about a week or ten days.
