December 20, 1929 WILMETTE LIFE 45 FRESHIES TAKE STAGE Make Debut in "A Little Journey" at University Theater Northwestern freshmen made their debut in dramatics at the University theater in Annie May Swift hall this week. · This comedy of Rachel Crothers has -its scene for the first two acts on board a Pullman going from New York to Montana. The leads were Julie Rutherford, a young society woman who has been suddenly cut off from her income, and Jim West, a westerner who strikes up a lively dialogue and evokes a rush of amusing gossip from the other passengers. The plot deals with a series of events which tend to give the pampered citybred young woman a saner philosophy than before, and reaches its climax in a train wreck. Miss Ruth Shaughnessy played the role of Julie and Ted Sizer was cast as Jim West. Two Evanston girls are in the play, Miss Janie Whitacre, a graduate of Roycemore, playing Mrs. Bays, and Miss Ruth Struebing, who was active in dramatics at Evanston High school.
