16 WILMETTE LIFE December 27, 1929 THE IREDALE FIREPROOF New Trier Cagers Circuit Theater Head Take Double Tilt From Oak Parkers New Trier High school's fighting basketball teams came from behind in two games on the New Trier court last Friday night to defeat Oak Park 26 to 24 and 21 to 17, thereby chalking up the first Suburban league victories for the Gray· and Green. The New Trier lightweigh~ team, trailing at the end of the first half 16 to 7, was on top when the final gun sounded by the narrow margin of 26 to 24. The New Trier heavyweights were also trailing Oak Park at the end of the half by one point, S to 4. Frank Church, lightweight forward, made five field goals for New Trier for ten points. Colin Finlayson, forward, and E lmer Berol, guard, each made six points for the Gray and Green, Finlayson on three field goals and Berol on two field goals and two free throws. Albert Bows, guard, did the remainder of the scoring for New Trier, making two field goals. New Trier's lightweights did not get started in the first half, but overcame Oak Park's nine point lead in the last half to win the game. Church, who made four field goals in the last half, led his team-mates in spo.iling what looked like a sure victory for Oak Park. \Vade, forward, was the leading Oak Park scorer. He collected five field goals to tie Church, of New Trier, for scoring honors. Bauman, Oak Park center, was second high scorer of the game with four field goals. The heavyweight encounter was equally exciting, especially in the last half. \Vith the score tied 17 to 17 and three minutes to play, Richard Schuettge, regular center for New Trier,,..went out on personals. Reschke. substttute center. came in to win the game for New Trier with two field goals. Marshall Ling, playing a forward position. dropped in five field goals and one free throw for New Trier to lead the scoring with · elevflll ~nts. He scored more than half his team's total points. Lovett, Oak Park forward, was second high sco~er of the game with three field goals. Coach Clyde Grater shifted the lineup somewhat in the heavyweight game. Schuettge, who played forward in the game with Fenger two weeks ago, was used at center in the Oak Park game, while Ling was shifted from guard to forward for the Oak Park encounter. Others who started for New Trier in the heavyweight game with Oak Park were Clayton Paulson, forward, Tom Hicks, guard, and Carleton Schroeder, guard.
