34 WILMETTE LIFE December 27, 1929 NORTH SHOR:E C heney-Kimbark Announce Lincoln Salon January 4-11 Announcement of a salon for the display of Lincoln motor cars in Evanston from January 4 to 11, inclusive, was made this week by the north shore dealers. Cheney and Kimhark, Inc. Examples of superlative coach work by some of the country's leading custom body builders w-ili be in the ~x hibit which will be held in the dealers' showrooms, 1822 Ridge avenue, Evanston. The exhibit will be open daily, except Sunday, from 11 in the morning to 11 at night. ', These fine type~ of body designs by the nation's master builders-in perfect keeping with the refinement of their setting-will afford motor enthusiasts of the north .shore the privilege of inspecting cars that show definitely the automobile bod.y trends of the · day. The showing wilt. serve as the debut locally of a striking new body type by LeBaron, a coupe sedan on a Lincoln chassis, a car that epitomizes the latest creative touch of this master. Another design to be exhibited is a convertible sedan by Dietrich which is sure to win admiration. Another car that will be shown for the first time is a fleet, streamline sport phaeton with a tonneau cowl, or second windshield protecting rear seat passengers. This car recently deYeloped by Li.ncoln won a .triumph at the fastidious summer colomes at Newport and along the north shore of Massachusetts. A Judkins two-window berline and a Willoughby limousine also will . be among the fine products of the destgners' art to be shown. The salon also will include exhibits that will picture graphi~ally what. exi~ts in each car and chassts-what ts htdden beneath the luxurious body, upholstery and finishings. An unfinished aluminum body, illustrating the material which goes into all Lincolns and a cut-a way motor, permitting 'the closest inspecti?n of the precision-built perfection ot the car will be on display also. Marvelous blocks, accurate to one quarter of one millio~th of an ~n.ch, will be used to explam the prectston with which Lincolns are constructed. Chicago Auto Show Comes to Coliseum Late in · January Records established last year will be broken at the thirtieth annual Chicago ~ational Automobile show to be held at the Coliseum from January 25 to February 1, when !orty-six maker~ of motor cars includmg both Amencan and foreign' manufacturers, wil.l exhibit their newest creations. In addition, accessory and shop equipment producers will top all former marks with 122 displays. The shop equipment sections have a total of fi ftv-three exhibitors by the latest count and more are expected. Two makers of taxi-cabs · will show their atest types. From a decorative standpoint, too, the annual motor classic will be 4uite the most elaborate in the long history of automobile shows. The interior oi the Coliseum will be transformed into a "bit of old England" in recognition of the improved international relations which have been brought about this ,·ear. The huge auditorium will take on the aspect of a great English garden, with a panorama one mile long glorifying historic spots and events , along with an unbroken hedge of 700 feet. Kat only will the main floor of the Coliseum be brilliantly decorated, but the balcony, the north hall and the, south annex like·wise, in scene and lighting effects, will carry out the motif of nature's beauties.
