Col. Richard W. Treiber, 66, of 1340 Sherwood Rd., Glenview, died Saturday at Great Lakes Naval Hospital. A veteran of both world wars, he retired in 1946 as a colonel in the Air Force. He served under Gen. Chenault with the Flying Tigers during World War II. Since his retirement, Col. Treiber has been affiliated with Acme Lane Co. in Chicago. He is past commander of a local American Legion Post. Surviving are his wife, E. Louise; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Butendorf of Oak Brook and Mrs. Carol Kue of Hinsdale; a son, Richard W. Jr., living at home; and six grandchildren. Services were conducted Tuesday at Glenview Naval Air Station Chapel. Burial was at Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park.
