Hawkinson, Arthur H. (Died)

Retired Wilmette Police Chief Arthur H. Hawkinson, 60, of 1217 Dartmouth St., Wilmette, died Monday at Evanston Hospital. Capt. Hawkinson started his career with the Wilmette Police Department in 1932 and retired as chief in 1966. He was a life-long resident of the village. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Becker of Downers Grove; a son, Charles A. of Des Plaines; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Shurtleff of Wheaton and Mrs. Ethel Thelen of Venice, Fla.; three brothers, Nathaniel of Lake Bluff and Stanley and Walter, both of Wilmette. The Rev. William O. Hanner of Church of the Holy Comforter will conduct the funeral service at 10 a.m. today at the William Scott Wilmette Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
