GUESTPECE Wilmette Park Board Ruies hi Cannt Legaliy Comply With Legion Request At its regular meeting Monday, night the Wilmette Park. district board took up for consideration anid final disposition the application of Wilmette Post No. 46 American Le- gion- for a'permit to erect in Vatt- man, park a building that would serve the double purpose of a permanent home for the. Legion and a meeting place for. other groups.- The applica- tion was denied on the ground that there is. no law enabling the board to permit2such use of public property. ExpWnls Legio. ObWt Fred M. Coxon, 1538 Central ave- nue, heading the Legion committec which presented the application to the Park board, stated.previous to its denial that the object of the Legion was not to inflict >something unide- sirable upon the residents of -the village, but rather to provide a. con- venience the need of which has been felt many times by different civic and patriotic groups.
