Miss Moore will also sing for the flrst time ýin her career the opera, "Madame Butterfly," in re- sponse to overwhelming popular Wolf-Ferrari's "Jewels of the Ma- donna," which has flot been sung here for ten years, with a cast headed by Martha Caniglia, a so- prano new to Chicago from La- Scala, Milan, Italy, who has scored at the Metropolitan where she has recently made her American debut. Verdi's "Falstaff," which has flot been presented for manv vears. at thé school recently, and at -that time "Winter Afternoon", was chosen favorite painting by a p opular vote, of the students. Renwick. flfteen-dol- lar prize' for, a water color lanid- scaipe entitled "Magdale'aBy Spitzbergen." For her portrait of a young girl in blue Elizabeth Engeihard (Mrs. George Enigeihard. 1045 Starr road, Winnetka) was awarded the fif- teen-dollar prize given by Mrs. Charles O. Barnes. Mrs. Engeihard also entered a stili life in the oil pafitngclassificaton. Stili another prize for an oil painting was given to a Winnetkan. Miss Vîrginia Burpo, who is the teacher of a craft class in the vil- Î. lage. She exhibited two ois. "Pier- rot" and "Mask" and won the Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Grey prize of $10 for "Pierrot." In ail, twenty-nine awards were given in a show with 445 entries, in- cluding ols, water colors. pastels.
