Warner in Taiking Screen Version of Widely Read Novel Eyes of Wilmette theater patrons will glisten at the fine portrayal of father love by H. B. Warner in the "taîkie" version of "Sorreli and Son,' Warwick Deeping's celebrated story, whicih shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. Warner, whc also starred in the sulent film versior of the novel several years ago, agair plays the role of Stephen Sorreli. In the "taîkie" version, produced by British and Dominions, one of the most beautiful stretches of Englisli countryside is filmed-in the beari of the Cotswold bills. The excellent photograpby which distinguishes the production is the work of Cyril Bristow, one of England's foremost cinematographers. 1Another highlight of "Sorrell and Son" is Hugh Williams' excellent characterization of Kit S o r r e (Stèphen's son).. His ability in thal role won him a contract with Fox. Show New Detective Story Sunday and Monday, September 9 and 10, the film version of Dashieli Hammett's latest and greatest de- tective mystery, "The Thin Man," will thrill at the Wilmette theater. And one of the best of screen detectives, William Powell, plays the leading role, with lovely Myrna Loy as lis leading lady. Different from ah other detective filmns, "The Thin: Man" is probably the' most grîpping and exciting picture that has reached the screen' recently, yet it teems with smart dialog and sparkling humor. Maureen O'Sullivan heads the sup- porting cast. Other brilliant players are Minna Gombell, Nat Pendieton, Porter Hall, Henry Wadsworth, Wil- liam Henry and Natalie Moorhead.
