The present contracts bear 90-day cancellation clauses. The new contracts also have such a clause. Under the new uniform contract customers will be charged the regular rates for water used for domestic pur- poses only. A lew years ago when the Miralago b)uilding in No Man's land burned, the Village of Kenilworth made'itself the target of a suit by forbidding the Evanston Fire department to tap a Kenilworth fire hydrant in order to get water to fight the flames. "No Man's Land" has no water supply of its own. The owners of the Miralago building sued the village for damages and the suit is still pending. The new uniform contract off ered to water users in the unincorporated area is explicit in setting forth that under no circunistances shaîl the village be liable to damage for failure to supply sufficient water for ire fighting pur- poses. The contract specifies that the water requirements of the village it- self shail be met first. One of the trustees, Richard C. Johnston, was of the opinion that the village shouldflot sell any water out- side its limits, and the motion to cani- cel the old contracts and offer new contracts to water users in the unin- corporated "No Man's Land" area wvas passed over his objections.
