For a number of yeaes now the league prior to each na- tional and state election has been offering this political atlas to the voters of Illinois. It is. well known that the League of Women Voters iever endorses candidates and that it has no ulterior motives. It is absolutely non-par- tisan. Its one purpose in publish- ing this "Voter" is to help make the Illinois electorate acquainted with candidates and specific ballot issues. This "Voter" contains no political or theoretical discussions of the pros and cons of such questions as the cost of government or relief of the uinemploved. What it does is to tell about the men running for con- gressional and state offices, men upon whom citizens are going to vote onl November 6. It gives the biographical records of these candidates and their own statements on some of the important issues of the day. Most of these candidates have corne right out and told how~ they stand on current ques- tions such as governmental control on the manufacture and the -ship- ment of arms and what the source of revenue should be to finance the fed- eral governiment. Also, it gives the voting records of congressional and general assembly candidates running for re-election. In addition the "Voter" gives some general election information and a brief, clear explanation of two im- portant questions which are to be voted upon, namely the emergency relief bond issue and the Constitu- tional Convention referendum.
