- Howard James Berndt, 74, of Johnsburg, died October 23, 2015, at Centegra Hoospital - McHenry. He was born December 12, 1938, in Chicago to Elmer and Hilda (Budde) Berndt. He was the father of Scott (Rhonda) Berndt, Mark (Julie) Berndt, Cheryl (Gary) Smith, Pamela (Dan) Solomon, and Brian (Deanna) Berndt. He was the husband of Eleanor C. Berndt, whom he married on April 30, 1960. He was preceded in death by Eleanor C. Berndt, Elmer Berndt, Hilda (Budde) Berndt, and Albert Berndt. He is survived by Scott (Rhonda) Berndt, Mark (Julie) Berndt, Cheryl (Gary) Smith, Pamela (Don) Solomon, Brian (Deanna) Berndt, Pam Nordgren, and Roger (Jaci) Berndt. Inurnment will be in Chapel Hill Gardens.
