(‘.0Ll EGE BOOSTERS ‘ START CAMPAIGN} Realizing that the best way to at-i tract new students to Lake Forest college is through the students who] are enjoying its privileges, Presidentt Moore has organized among the stu- dents what has been termed the Lake} ‘Forest College Booster Assmiation.‘ At the head of this group is William: ‘Grant Mct‘ollcy. n senioim He hasi been largely responsible for some oil ;the very practical and unusual meth-: ods of acquainting the immediate vici- l inity with the advantages and opporâ€"j :tunitics of Lake Forest College. He‘ has organized the student body into igroups of one kind or nnother, makâ€" ging each group responsible for a cer- tain amount of specified work lam-l E nection with making the name of Lake I Forest known far and wide. His first ”move was to send out a circular letâ€" 'iter to all the high achool students lwithin a radius of fifty miles of Lake lForest. This letter was signed by {his own name as president of the stu- ;dent organization. Following this let- ‘Tter he has sent requests to the prin- itciples asking for an opportunity to ' speak to the juniors and seniors of githe school. Property owners should understand that the contemâ€" plated court proceeding is to be brought {Or the bcnolit of all owners of rval estate in Highland Park and that if a favorable derision is reachâ€" ed, all taxpayers will be benefited by it. The only uhjcctilm to taxes as now extcndul on the Collector's books that will be urged and heard in the con- templated court proceeding is that arising um of the horizontal raise in Highland Park valuatiuns attempted by tho Board of Review in 1919. The Supreme Court has held that the Board of Review in so acting did not pro- ceed in conformity with the law and that the raise was therefore illegal. Notwithstanding this decision, the County Clerk extended taxes for the year 1920 upon the valuations as at- tempted to be raised by the Board of Review, the result being that the taxes extended against all Highland Park real extant“ are. to a considerable ex- tent, illegal. It has been reported that there are‘ other irrqggilarities in the 1920 taxes? which wduid not stand the test of careful exgmination, but the City‘ authorities :who have encouraged the City Attorney to file-the bill for in-i junction, have not felt warranted in‘i attacking any nthcx feature of the; $920 times {than that part which has; been adjudged unlawful by the de-E cision of the Supreme Court.
