Lovell Federal Health Care Center (VA) in North Chicago; born in Chicago to Vernon and Wilhelmina (nee Von Blumenthal) Brauns and grew up in Crystal Lake IL; attended U. of Minnesota and Dunwoody Industrial Institute; moved to Nisswa MN and built the B&L Diner and Totem Pole; 1942-45 served in U.S. Army Air Corps with Signal Intelligence in China, Burma and India Theater; worked for Army Security Agency in Washington D.C., then for Armour & Co. in Design & Automation, Research & Development and Corporate Engineering; 1970-87 owned and operated Brauns Engineering in Crystal Lake; retired and lived 18 years in Nisswa MN before returning to Chicago; charter and life member of Billie Brown Post of American Legion in Nisswa MN and life member of Brainerd VFW; preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Verne Grant and Elise Bauer, a his brother, Hollis - Date of Publication
