Age 65; born in Ottawa, Cannada where his father was a naval attache to U.S. Embassy, grew up in East Grand Rapids, MI; graduate of Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, MI, 1967 BA in English from Kenyon College in Gambier, OH; 1968 commissioned as 2nd Lt. in U.S. Army, served in Vietman as artillery forward observer, received 3 bronze stars and The Air Medal, 1972 discharged as First Lt.; MBA from Emory U.; early career in Chicago area at Container Corporation of America; 18-year resident of Winnetka, IL; 1975 joined Harris Trust & Savings Bank, became Executive VP and Manager of Trust Division, head of Harris Investment Management, Chairman of Harris Trust Co. of Arizona, director of Bank of Montreal Investment Ltd.; 1990 CEO of PNC Bank's Asset Management Group; 1998 moved to Vero Beach, President and CEO of PNC Private Bank of Florida; retired and remained as advisory director; Director of Chestnut Street Exchange Fund in Wilmington, DE, Director of Dinguss-Rum Properties Inc.; member of U.S. Senior's Golf Association, lifelong boater, taking (Orbiter( from Florida to Maine and Great Lakes; enjoyed fishing; preceded in death by his son, Richard Jr. - Date of Publication
