Age 90; born in Chicago to Samuel Nye and Helen Wood Clark and raised in Jacksonville, IL; 1936 graduate of Jacksonville H.S. and 1940 graduate of Illinois College in Jacksonville; during WWII fought in Pacific with 43rd Infantry Division, awarded battlefield commission in Solomon Islands, discharged with rank of Captain in October, 1945; longtime resident of Glenview and Wilmette; reporter for the City News Bureau of Chicago, joined Chicago Tribune in 1941, Financial Editor from 1956-69, Assistant to the Publisher in 1969, Secretary of Tribune Company in 1973; moderator of two Chicago televison programs, (Ticker Tape( on WTTW and (Investors' Forum( on WGN-TV, business commentator on WGN radio; in 1977 Executive Director of Robert R. McCormick Charitable Trust, communications consultant for Tribune until retirement in July 1987; member of Glenview School Board 1955-61, president 1960-61; trustee of Illinois College, chairman 1966-81; two-term member of National Board of Governors of American Red Cross; past-presidnet of Executives Club of Chicago; resident of Ottumwa, IA since 2003; preceded in death by his wife, Barbara on April 12, 2002, a son, William W. Clark, a brother, John W. Clark and three stepsons, Robert, Steve and Randy Martin
