AGe 98; resident of Winnetka IL; born in San Francisco CA to Anna Hischer Cooney and grew up in Winnetka; attended New Trier H.S. and graduated from St. George H.S.; assistant manager of Sears & Roebuck store in Winnetka Village; drafted into U.S. Army in 1942 as a Private, rose to Second Lt., accepted into horse cavalry officer's candidate school program; after war, took classes at Northwestern U., returned to Sears, served as buyer, retired after 40 years and ran Cooney Manufacturing Co. into his early 90s; served eight years as scout leader, PTA and Republican Party volunteer, board member of North Shore Sunday Evening Club, member and head usher of 1st Church of Christ Scientists; preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Pat, his mother, Anna and sister, Bernice Cooney Patek - Date of Publication
