Age 78; born in Vienna, Austria, son and grandson of rabbis; as a youth experienced anti-Semitism of the Nazis; with immediate family left Europe in May 1939, grandparents and other relatives perished in Holocaust; moved from New York City to Wilmette IL in 1963; rabbi of Beth Hillel Congregation in Wilmette IL, 1968 founding rabbi of Am Yisrael in Northfield IL, 1994 retired, addition to synagogue dedicated in his name; 1995 Wilmette's Chamber of Commerce Senior Citizen of the Year; member of Wilmette Rotary Club
