Jr. (Jane); three daughters, Isabel (Cissy( (William) Glading, Anne (Richard) O'Malley, Katherine (Katie( (Daniel) Goese; 14 grandchildren, Isabel Sarah Glading (Matthew) Gallagher, William, Matthew, Daniel and Patrick Glading, Claire and Margot Kollerer, Conor, Elizabeth, Brian and Katherine O'Malley, and Michael, Madeline and Caroline Goese; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Emma Isabel Gallagher; one brother, A. James Jr. (Marie); one sister, Katherine Doyle (late Joseph) Carani; nieces and nephews.
Age 83; attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and 1940 graduate of Loyola Academy; Navy carrier dive bomber pilot in WWII; 1947 graduate of Cornell U.; joined his father's insurance agency, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. in Chicago, served as CEO from 1990 to 1995 and remained chairman until his death; in 1994 established and endowed The Gallagher Scholars Program through the Archdiocese of Chicago's Big Shoulders Fund; preceded in death by a daughter, Lauren Gallagher Kollerer, and brother, John P. (Mary Claire).
